What is Functional Oncology?

Functional Oncology works by integrating the best of what is available in both the traditional western medical approach to oncological patients and the best of the natural and holistic fields.

Our treatment plans are architected to put the patient in the center of a team of professional partners in the medical fields of: Functional Medicine, Clinical Oncology, Clinical Nutrition, Biological Dentistry, and Clinical Psychology.

Cancer may be the result of our interaction with our macro, micro and nano-environment.

  • Macro-environment: country of origin, country of residence, the city we live in, the place we work in, etc.
  • Micro-environment: relationships with family, friends, coworkers, our diet, exercise habits, etc.
  • Nano-environment: relation with our microscopic world, viruses, bacteria, and fungi.

Cancer is a sum of genetic, nutritional, toxic, immunological and psychological factors put together. We have more than 2,000 known causes for cancer and it is important to remember, it doesn’t follow rules.

Patients can have the same type of cancer but the treatment is not the same for each of them, because they all have big differences, such as:

  • Age
  • Genetics
  • Environment
  • Additional illnesses
  • Nutritional habits

Many of the most common cancers found in our society have been traditionally rare in other large populations in the world; studies of migrants exclude a simple genetic explanation for these wide geographical variations and imply that environmental exposures are key determinants of the development of these cancers.

Our Functional Protocol

All the factors mentioned above, have helped our Functional Oncology Center move into an individualized and multifactorial understanding and treatment of the disease. Our Functional Protocol is designed taking into consideration the best of the conventional treatment and the best of the alternative disciplines.

Each diagnosis we provide as a medical team is personalized, taking into consideration the history that surrounds every patient. In addition, we take into consideration the amount of complications cancer creates and that most medical teams do not understand of detect on time.

If not detected on time, they can go from minor such as nausea or sever such as organ failure. We are ready to act in both cases and treat the patient’s body as the unit it is, without creating more problems and always maintain the balance.
